India : Two more succumb to malaria

From Hindustan Times :

" Two persons succumbed to malaria on Friday, taking the disease’s total death toll in the city to 18 in August. One of the victims was a 43-year-old man from Worli, while the other was a 35-year-old man from Santacruz. On Friday alone, public hospitals reported admitting more than 200 new malaria patients.

“Our health workers have begun to notice a drop in malaria cases,” said Dr G T Ambe, executive health officer of the BMC.

“The focus now is to aggressively control mosquito breeding and that is being done by carrying out surveillance measures at construction sites and checking water storage areas,” Dr Ambe added."
