NDM1 superbug not detected in Thailand yet - deputy health minister

Via The Nation :

" The New Delhi metallobetalactamase (NDM1) superbug has not yet been found in Thailand, Deputy Public Health Minister Pansiri Kulanartsiri said Wednesday.

Recently, a foreign expert has warned about the NDM1 threat.

To date, this superbug is found to have infected more than 70 people in Britain, more than 170 in India and Pakistan, and many more in several Western countries.

Pansiri Wednesday said her ministry had now established a system to watch out for the NDM1 and monitor drug resistance in 60 big hospitals across the country.

The ministry, she said, would also seriously campaign for the proper use of antibiotics."
