The Star : Pregnant woman dies but docs save baby

" A 29-year-old pregnant woman with Influenza A(H1N1) has died but doctors have been able to save her baby.

The baby, confirmed to be H1N1 negative, is now in the intensive care unit.

“She is in a stable condition,” said Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

The woman, who was in her 36th week of pregnancy, died two days after her 54-year-old mother died of H1N1 complications.

They were admitted last Tuesday.

Liow said in a statement yesterday that the woman had earlier shown signs of foetal distress syndrome. She died of “adult respiratory distress syndrome” on Friday."

Bernama : No Indication Of H1N1 Second Wave Despite Two Deaths, Says Liow

" Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai Sunday said that there was no indication that the second wave of Influenza A (H1N1) despite two H1N1 deaths reported at the Melaka Hospital over the past four days.

He said the first case involved a 54-year-old woman who died of diabetic complications on Wednesday although she had tested positive for H1N1.

The woman was admitted to Melaka Hospital on Tuesday after showing symptoms of influenza-like-illness (ILI) and was given Tamiflu treatment, but she died the following day of complication called Severe Metabolic Acidosis, he told reporters after visiting the Kuala Kubu Baharu Hospital here.

Liow said the second case involved the woman's daughter who died of Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome."
