Nepal : Cholera confirmed in six patients

" RUPANDEHI: Cholera has been confirmed in the six patients, who were admitted to the Butwal-based Lumbini zonal hospital a week ago.

According to Laxmiraj Regmi, medical officer of the hospital, Bikram Shai (20), Taradevi Tamrakar (45), Dev Kumari Neupane (60) and Saraswati Pariyar (21) of Butwal had contracted Cholera Zero One.

The medical officer Regmi identified the other cholera patients as Maya Chaudhari (35) and Parbati Gautam of Nawalparasi.

All six patients returned home on Friday after treatment, he said.

The District Public Health Office said the medical staffers were on high alert in the wake of rise in diarrhoea and cholera patients in the district.

Diarrhoea that broke out in Bhawantihawa of Betkuiya VDC a week ago is under control now."
