" Bauchi State Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Muhammad Yahaya Jalam, has declared that at least 100 people have been confirmed dead as a result of cholera epidemic in the state in the past three months.
The commissioner also said that “Government has controlled the cholera epidemic presently; only few patients remain in the hospital unlike before when we admitted between 50 to 100 patients in a day; we recorded over 11,220 cases all over the state out of which about 100 people died.”
He said the situation reduced due to the measures put in place by the state government in collaboration with doctors without borders medicine frontiers.
“Part of the measures include chlorinating over 6,000 wells and 5,000 houses in all parts of the state. And our health team works for 24 hours on shift basis; doing one thing or the other to control the spread of the disease,” he said."
