" LAHORE: Dengue fever has claimed, at least, 27 lives so far, according to figures given the National Institute of Health. The Punjab Health Department has claimed that dengue fever is on the decline in view of the drop in the number of dengue patients on Sunday as compared to the previous day.
According to a handout on Sunday, as per the report issued by the Health Department (Communicable Disease Department), a total of 157 patients of dengue, including 142 in Lahore alone, were confirmed to be under treatment in various government hospitals on Sunday.
The spokesman for the department claimed that the decline in dengue fever cases had been witnessed as 241 cases, including 194 in Lahore, were reported on the previous day.
He said a total of 1,599 dengue patients had been discharged from the government hospitals after recovery and no dengue patient died in any government hospital. According to the report, during the last 24 hours, 142 cases of dengue fever had been reported to be under treatment in various government hospitals of Lahore. Furthermore, 15 cases of dengue fever had been reported from other districts of the province.
Specialists at the Communicable Disease Section of Health Department said the dengue fever cases were reducing and only 157 cases of dengue fever were reported on October 31 as compared to 241 cases reported on October 30. The Health Department spokesman said the secretary Health Punjab had arranged platelet kits from Islamabad and Karachi."
