Malaysia : Current Situation of Influenza A (H1N1) For Week 31/2010 (1 – 7 August 2010)

The latest H1N1 update from Malaysia's MOH. To note the increase ILI cluster cases and confirmed H1N1 cases. The update with my translation :

" For the week 31/2010 (1 to 7 August 2010), 13 new ILI cluster cases was reported from six (6) states as shown in Appendix 1 - an increase from the previous week, a total of five (5) ILI clusters.

In the same week, a total of 563 new patients with symptoms of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) have been admitted to hospitals for treatment as compared to 454 patients in the previous week, an increase. The remaining cases that are still being treated across the country on the last day of week 31/2010 (August 7, 2010) are 331 cases in 56 hospitals including 9 private hospitals.

Of these, only 25 patients or 7.6% were cases of Influenza A (H1N1) which was confirmed by laboratory tests. For the record, there are 5 cases of H1N1 being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and three (3) of them are individuals who have risk factors.

The numbers of confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) in the same week are 51 cases compared to a total of 48 cases in the previous week, an increase, bringing the cumulative number of positive cases of influenza A (H1N1) to 15,520 to date.

No fatalities were reported. Total fatalities from H1N1 remaining at 92."
