Indonesia : Kebayoran Lama has highest dengue fever rate in S. Jakarta

" Kebayoran Lama district recorded 235 dengue fever cases this year to date – the most in South Jakarta, according to a health official.

The district was densely populated and local residents were not attentive to the dangers posed by the larvae of the mosquitoes that transmitted the disease, South Jakarta Health subagency chief Hakim Siregar said on as reported by beritajakarta.com.

Hakim called upon residents to promote the “drain, seal, bury” campaign to rid the region of standing pools of water that mosquitoes used to breed in order to combat dengue.

There have been 1,194 dengue fever cases recorded in South Jakarta this year to date, including cases in Pasar Minggu district (194), Tebet (151), Jagakarsa (123), Cilandak (118), Pesanggrahan (93), Kebayoran Baru and Setiabudi (85), Pancoran (61) and Mampang Prapatan (49)."
