" The Ministry of Health (MoH) recently issued a press release confirming a previous denial of a meningitis epidemic in Kuwait. The press release read:
“In view of recent media and social media news about meningitis cases in Kuwait, the Ministry of Health confirms that according to WHO regulations Kuwait is meningitis epidemic-free since a pandemic disease means the existence of ten cases per 100,000 people.
The news about WHO recommending the closure of health facilities and shopping centers in Kuwait are mere rumors, as confirmed by the WHO office in Cairo. Therefore there is no need for vaccination, except for those in direct contact with verified cases or suspected ones be it in staff accommodation or among medical and administrative staff in various health facilities.
It has been scientifically proven that the type of meningitis recently detected can only be transmitted through droplets of respiratory secretion during close contact such as kissing, sneezing, or coughing on someone, and cannot be spread by only breathing the air where a person with meningitis has been."
