" Authorities on Monday detected bird flue in five more poultry farms of Bhaktapur, thus bringing the total number of bird flu cases to 19 in the past 20 days since July 16, 2013 in Bhaktapur alone.
With this, the total number of bird flue in Kathmandu valley has reached 32 in 20 days.
“We are making efforts to control the spread. Our colleagues are working day and night to bring the disease under control,” said Narayan Ghimire, a senior veterinary doctor with the Department of Livestock Services.
“We will soon start culling the chickens. But we face difficulty as the number of chickens to be culled is in thousands,” said Khagendra Bhatta, chief of Bhaktapur Livestock Services Office."
