Georgia records seventeenth fatality since early year

" Another person died from the H1N1 virus in Georgia. As the National Center for Disease Control told Trend, this time the 50-year-old woman died, who had other chronic diseases that caused complications and the so-called "swine flu".
This is the 17th fatality as a result of the flu this year in Georgia. Twelve people died from the H1N1virus. The rest died from other subtypes of the A type virus and B type virus.
As the Center told Trend, so far "swine flu" has been recorded in 425 people and it was confirmed by laboratory tests. Most of them recovered from the virus without consequences."

Finland confirms six more A/H1N1 flu cases

" The Finnish Defense Forces said in a statement on Wednesday that a further six A/H1N1 flu cases had been confirmed at the Armored Brigade base in Parola in southern Finland, Xinhua reported.
Finland's first A/H1N1 flu case in the new flu season was confirmed at the base late November, when several other people were exhibiting symptoms linked to the disease.
The military said that six of them have been confirmed to be infected with A/H1N1 virus, adding that more than 250 conscripts had sought treatment over the past two days. About half of them showed typical A/H1N1 flu symptoms, such as high fever, muscle aches and pains, sore throat and headache."

Baby dies in Germany of cholera caught in Pakistan

" A baby has died in Germany, apparently of cholera he caught during his family's stay in Pakistan, health authorities said Friday.
Since cholera epidemics in Germany a century ago, the disease has practically disappeared from the country, with the annual case rate varying from three to zero. Cholera causes vomiting and diarrhoea, DPA reported.
Six people who had been in contact with the 9-month-old boy, who died in a Frankfurt hospital early Thursday, have been put under quarantine, but have shown no signs of the disease."

Azerbaijan : No bird flu virus detected

" The next monitoring of the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, which began May 17, did not reveal any evidence of bird flu virus infection with wild birds and poultry, said the Veterinary Service,.
"As part of the monitoring, the professionals of the Service conducted laboratory tests of samples of pathological material taken from 12 wild birds and 1,160 poultry, and the pathological material of six poultry," the same source reported.
Monitoring was carried out on the Absheron Peninsula, in Shabran, Salyan, Agjabedi and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan, as well as in other coastal zones. Monitoring was carried out by Veterinary Service in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, as well as the Society of Hunters."
