" Two people succumbed to malaria and one died of dengue in the city in the last two days, according to BMC reports. Malaria claimed the life of a 30 year old man from Goregaon on Thursday and of a 55 year old woman from Malad on Friday. Eight people have died of the disease in August so far and
220 more malaria patients were admitted in public hospitals on Friday.
A 40 year old man from Vidyavihar died of dengue on Thursday. This is the first dengue death in the city this month.
Six more dengue patients were admitted to public hospitals on Friday. Five more people, including two children, also tested positive for swine flu on Friday, taking the total number of H1N1 cases in the city to 61.
Among other monsoon illnesses, public hospitals reported admitting 446 cases of fever, 65 cases of gastroenteritis and one case of leptospirosis."
