" PUNE: As many as 237 cases of malaria, 67 cases of dengue and 1,036 cases of H1N1 have been reported in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits during the period from January to July. This information was given by Nagkumar Kunchagi, chief medical officer, during the standing committee meeting here on Thursday.
The PCMC standing committee on Thursday alleged that some private hospitals were giving inflated figures of dengue and malaria cases in the civic limits and asked the health department to take action against such hospitals. Speaking to TOI, Prashant Shitole, chairman, standing committee, said, "All members of the committee expressed concern about the lack of cleanliness and the growing number of patients of dengue, malaria and H1N1 in the municipal limits.
Rajendra Salunke sought statistics about the number of dengue, malaria and H1N1 patients in the municipal limits and alleged that hospitals are giving false information to the civic authorities."
