" MUAR: The state wants the people, especially those living in Johor Baru, to clean up mosquito-breeding spots in their areas following the marked increase of dengue cases.
State Women, Family, Health and Community Development Commit-tee chairman Dr Robia Kosai said seven deaths had been reported up to mid-July.
She said three deaths were reported in the state for the whole of last year, but this year, seven deaths were recorded by middle of the year.
“It is very frightening to note that by July we have recorded more than double from that of last year and we fear the figure can go up by year’s end.
“We want the people to get rid of all mosquito-breeding grounds in their houses and their surroundings,” she said.
Dr Robia said the Johor Baru district had recorded the highest number of cases of 1,258 by July with two deaths, including that of a 27-year-old foreign worker from Bangladesh."
