" SURIN, 3 AUGUST 2010 : Over 1,500 people in the northeastern province of Surin have been infected with dengue fever in the latest outbreak which kills one boy. The latest victim in the province was a 13-year-old boy who was sent to hospital too late and died from a shock.

The infection rate has risen to 200 per 100,000 people in the city area while that in adjacent districts is lower but continues to increase. The spread situation is expected to be more serious than last year.

The provincial hospital has asked the people and concerned agencies to help clean up breeding sites of house mosquitoes in order to control the spread of dengue fever. People are advised to seek immediate medical attention if they are suspected of being infected."
