" KUALA LUMPUR: A 65-year-old man from Kluang, Johor, who was admitted to the Kluang Hospital, became the latest victim to die of dengue during the period between Aug 29 to Sept 4.
The man who also had Hypertension, was admitted on Aug 29, but died five days later due to the Dengue Shock Syndrome.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said 1,144 cases were reported throughout the country last week which was a slight drop from the 1,159 reported the week before.
However, four states registered an increase in the number of cases when Kelantan recorded an increase of 50 cases, Johor (28), Penang (16) and Selangor (13).
The number of accumulated cases from January to Sept 4, stood at 33,832 cases which was an increase of 12 per cent or 3,722 cases when compared with 30,110 cases for the same period last year, he said in a statement here today."
