" Texas authorities have shut down a San Antonio-based produce company and ordered a recall of fresh-cut produce after investigators linked the plant to a listeriosis outbreak resulting in five deaths.
The Oct. 20 shut-down of Sangar Fresh Cut Produce came after six of the 10 listeriosis cases were traced to chopped celery, which the plant distributes fresh cut to restaurants, hospitals and schools, Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) said yesterday. The listeriosis cases under investigation were spread over an eight-month period."
