" Two people succumbed to encephalitis here, taking the toll in the viral infection in eastern Uttar Pradesh this year to 516.
Health officials said on Saturday that the two died at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College Hospital here yesterday. The victims hailed from Gorakhpur and Sant Kabrinagar.
"Nine patients suffering from encephalitis have been admitted to the hospital on Friday," Additional Director (Health) U K Srivastava said."
