" KOCHI: Two dengue fever cases were among 1,318 cases of various fevers reported by the district Health authorities here today.
There are 81 people admitted in various government hospitals in the district with fever while the rest were treated at the hospital out-patient departments. There are also 98 diarrhoeal diseases reported, of which five were admitted.
An emergency meeting of superintendents of general hospital, taluk hospitals and medical officers in-charge of block primary health centres and also representatives of private hospitals in some areas were called to review plan of action to control contagious fever in the district. R. Sudhakaran, the district medical officer-in charge, who presided over the meeting said that control measures for fever are being strengthened across the district.
The hospitals have been asked to conduct fever clinics and open fever wards. An H1N1 ward is open at Perumbavur taluk hospital. Health workers in the field have been asked to monitor fever cases by referring patients to hospitals. Hospitals have also been asked to stock enough medicines.
A special medical camp was held at Rayamangalam pachayat in Vengoor block, where a person had died recently. He had tested positive for both leptospirosis and Influenzha A H1N1."
