" According to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine, dengue fever is the most common cause of febrile illness in travelers returning from the Caribbean, Central America and South Central Asia.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has put out a report listing places where dengue is a problem and advice for travelers to these regions on preventing this serious mosquito-borne disease. Dengue infections are commonly reported from most tropical countries of the South Pacific, Asia, the Caribbean, the Americas, and Africa.
Particular nations were pointed out as having dengue activity, these include:
• Africa- Cape Verde and Senegal
• South Pacific-Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
• Central and South America and the Caribbean-Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Honduras, Peru, and Puerto Rico.
• Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in the Middle East."
