India : One more swine flu death in Cuttack, State toll reaches 4

" One more person died of swine flu in Cuttack on Thursday taking the death toll in the dreaded disease to four in 2010 in Odisha. With incessant rains now sweeping across the State and people in large numbers suffering from fever accompanied with cold and cough, swine flu threat has gripped almost every household.Biswanath Ekka (30), a Rourkela-based software engineer died of the disease at SCB Medical College Hospital here on Thursday, registering the first death in the premier referral hospital of the State which had successfully cured over 30 known swine flu patients in 2009.

"Every swine flu patient was also cured and discharged from our hospital this year. But we could not save the software engineer who was shifted here from a Bhubaneswar hospital in critical condition on Wednesday night," said the hospital administrative officer BN Moharana on Thursday. Ekka, who was reportedly infected with H1N1 virus during his recent trip to Hyderabad, was first admitted in Usthi Diagnostics, a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, on August 2. After his swab samples tested positive to the virus on Wednesday, he was shifted to the Cuttack hospital."
