" Cases of dengue continue to soar in Central Visayas with the latest Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) 7 data recording total of 3,506 cases for the 32nd morbidity week covering January to August 7 this year, a 13.5 percent increase over cases recorded in the same period last year.
Last year, RESU7 only recorded 3,087 dengue cases. However, mortality rate was smaller this year, with 23 deaths recorded compared to the 44 deaths reported last year.
Meanwhile, Cebu continues to top the list with 820 cases and nine deaths or 22 percent of the total recorded cases. Last year the city only recorded 606 cases with 13 deaths on the same period."
