Nigeria : Cholera kills 45 in Borno

Via Nigerian Tribune :

" ABOUT 45 people have been reported dead in six local government areas of Borno State, following an outbreak of cholera in the state.

Nigerian Tribune reported that the outbreak might not be unconnected with lack of potable water in the areas, as the people had been relying on wells and other sources of water since the commencement of the rainy season.

The affected local governments are Dikwa, Kala Balge, Kukawa, Marte, Guzamala, and Abadam.
It will be recalled that some of these local government areas were also affected by the outbreak which claimed over 100 lives last year.

Nigerian Tribune also reported that while there was no room in the hospitals, particularly at the Bullumkuttu Ultramodern Hospital and Fatima Ali Sheriff Hospital, to house the victims of the recent outbreak, it was gathered that of the six local government areas, Abadam Local Government Area recorded the highest casualties of 11, while about five children died at Tunban Gini village."
