China reports 11 deaths from malaria in three months

" BEIJING, April 18 : Eleven Chinese people, aged between 20 to 50, died from malignant malaria from January to March, according to a the Ministry of Health on Monday.

According to the statement, the number of malaria cases had plunged from an annual average of 30 million when the People's Republic of China was founded in 1949 to 7,433 cases in 2010.

However, recent years had witnessed rising deaths from malignant malaria, due to greater population flow, the statement said."
