" USE common sense and take care of yourself, Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma urged citizens yesterday.
Dr Sharma said advised victims of influenza, which was on the rise around the country, to stay home to avoid spreading the infection to others.
"They should rest, take a lot of fluid, take Panadol and not get into contact with other people for fear of spreading the flu," he said.
Dr Sharma said there had been only one death recorded so far from H1N1, also an influenza-like illness (ILI), after an outbreak on Rotuma in January.
He said since influenza was on its seasonal outing in the country, members of the public should take extra precaution.
"We've recorded an outbreak in Rotuma only but the flu can be contained if we are careful and take extra precautions," he said.
Recent comments by World Health communicable diseases expert, Dr Jacob Kool confirmed ILIs were fatal in serious cases and could be severe for people with diabetes, heart diseases, pregnant women, the elderly and infants."
