Indonesia : Suspected Case of Bird Flu Found in Bali

Via The Jakarta Globe :

" Denpasar, Bali : A hospital in Bali treated a person suspected of having contracted bird flu on Sunday, a local health official said.

The patient, identified as N.L., is a 45-year-old woman from Gadungan Sari village in Tabanan district’s East Selemadeg subdistrict. A preliminary test of the patient was positive for bird flu but more testing is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.

“She was brought to the hospital with flu-like symptoms and a very high fever,” said Ketut Subrata, the head of disease control and environmental health of the province’s health department.

Chickens that died of bird flu have been found near N.L.’s house. It was not clear whether she had been in direct contact with the sick poultry."
