Malaysia : Current Situation of Dengue Fever and Chikungunya

" Week 14/2011 (3 to 9 April 2011)

During the 14th week of 2011 is for a period of 3 to 9 April, a total of 356 cases of dengue fever have been reported nationwide, an increase of 20 cases or 6% compared to 336 cases in the previous week. There are six states that showed improvement over last week's case namely that an increase of 52 cases (46%), Kuala Lumpur / Putrajaya 6 cases (20%), Perak 5 cases (23%), Singapore 3 cases (75%) , Perlis 1 case (100%) and Johor increase of 1 case (3%) (Appendix A).

Starting from January to 9 April 2011 a total of 5.852 cases were reported, a decrease of 58% or 8.014 13.866 cases compared with cases reported for the same period in 2010. Dengue deaths also decreased by 81% or 38 deaths, of which there were 9 deaths in 2011 compared to 47 in the same period in 2010."
