" Queensland Health says the death of a 22-year-old woman from diphtheria in Brisbane highlights the importance of being fully immunised.
The woman died in hospital last week after apparently having contracted the bacterial infection from a friend who had recently returned from overseas.
Queensland Health says there is no risk for those who are fully vaccinated against the disease.
Chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young says a diphtheria outbreak is unlikely because the vast majority of Australians are immunised."
