Hong Kong : CHP investigates Legionnaires' Disease case

Press release from Hong Kong's Centre for Health Protection :

" The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating an imported case of Legionnaires' Disease.

The patient is a 75-year-old male tourist with an underlying medical illness. He arrived in Hong Kong on April 25. He presented with chest pain and fever on April 27 and was admitted to Ruttonjee Hospital the next day. He remained in stable condition and discharged on April 30. The patient has left Hong Kong.

Urine tests revealed that the patient was infected with Legionella bacteria. Investigation is on-going.

This is the fourth case of Legionnaires' Disease reported to CHP this year. Twenty cases were filed in 2010, 37 in 2009, 13 in 2008 and 11 in 2007."
