India : Trainee cop dies of malaria at Kishangarh

Via Times of India, fatality and confirmed cases of malaria are being reported :

" JAIPUR: The police training institute at Kishangarh is under attack. One under-training constable died on Sunday while five others were admitted to the government hospital there when found to be infected with malaria. Many constables have complained of fever.

One 21-year-old Mukesh Kumar Jatia, resident of Chittorgarh, had joined the institute five days ago. But, soon he was admitted to Yagyanarayan hospital of Kishangarh.

There are five others who were found to be infected with plasmodium vivax (pv). Sources said there are two patients who have the symptoms of plasmodium falciparum (pf) but it is yet to be ascertained whether they are infected with the fatal pf malaria.

Jatia was first admitted to the Kishangarh hospital but later shifted to Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Ajmer, where he died during treatment, said a health department official.

Sources said there are around 750 new trainees in the institute. However, mosquitoes have made the life of the police trainees miserable."
