Nigeria : 10 die, 30 hospitalised in fresh cholera outbreak in Ibadan

Article via Vanguard :

" FEW weeks after an outbreak of cholera epidemic killed some people in Ibadan North West Local Government, another fresh attack of the epidemic has reportedly killed about 10 persons in Ido Local Government Area.

About 30 other victims were said to have been hospitalised within the city.

It was learnt that some of the victims were taken to the University College Hospital.

Though, the Caretaker Chairman of the local government, Professor Niyi Olowofela said he could not confirm the casualty figure he told Vanguard that the case of a child was reported to him.

He said the child was vomiting and defecating excessively and when such things happen, people naturally say it is cholera. Yesterday, he noted that when he called the mother of the child, he was told the child was diagnosed of diarrhea at UCH.

The chairman added that he just learnt that some cases were reported at Bakatari and he was on his way to the place to confirm the veracity of the report."
