India : Gurdev Nagar resident dies of dengue

Via Times of India :

" LUDHIANA: Dengue is leaving no area untouched. On Monday night, a resident of the posh Gurdev Nagar succumbed to the vector-borne disease at a hospital here. This is the second death in the city due to dengue this season and deals a blow to the health department's constant claims that they are taking needed measures to control the spread of the disease.

On Monday, 26-year-old Neeraj Raghav, a homemaker who stayed in Gurdev Nagar and was admitted in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital for over a week died due to dengue after her platelet count dropped severely. "When Neeraj was brought here she was in a critical condition. On Monday, she was suffering from diarrhoea and her pulse rate was very low. She had to be put on ventilator but did not survive,'' said Dr Sandeep Puri, medical superintendent DMCH.

On August 2, a resident of Sherpur Chowk, Shailendra Kumar had died due to the disease. He was 22 years old."
