Hong Kong : Update on cluster of Respiratory Syncytial Virus cases in female mentally handicapped ward of Tuen Mun Hospital

" Regarding the earlier announcement on a cluster of patients in a female mentally handicapped ward confirmed with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), the spokesperson of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) provided the following update today (September 11):

One more 35-year-old patient and one staff member in the ward had presented with upper respiratory infection symptoms. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patient and the test results are pending. The concerned patient is being treated under isolation and in stable condition. The staff member concerned has recovered.

Admission to and discharge from the ward have been suspended. Restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance."
