" Oyo State Government has begun fumigation and chlorination of the major source of water in Ibadan North West and Ido Local Governments areas where an outbreak of cholera has killed no fewer than 14 people.

The epidemic killed four in Ibadan North West Local Government Area about three weeks ago, while about 10 victims reportedly died in Ido Local Government Area due to cholera related diseases.

Vanguard gathered that 10 other victims of the epidemic were receiving treatment at Bakatari, Oke Oloro and Omi Adio areas of the state.

Ido Local Government Area boss, Professor Niyi Olowofela, told Vanguard that the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdul-Lateef Olopoeniyan had deployed some experts from Epidemiology Department in the areas to check the spread of the epidemic.

He said they had visited private clinics where victims were being treated to distribute drugs and fumigate the areas.Already, he said, all the private clinics have been turned into cholera units where any new cases would be tackled but noted that apart from those that fell victims of the epidemic no new case was reported."
