" Nearly a week after the FAO warning about the possible resurgence of bird flu in Asia, Western Assam’s Dhu-bri district has detected a confirmed outbreak and has started the culling of chickens.
District veterinary department officials confirmed the outbreak in Agomoni area of the district, bordering Bangladesh. Official sources said blood samples and carcasses were sent for testing to Guwahati and Bhopal after a large number of chickens were found dead. The test reports, which came in Friday, confirmed avian flu.
More than 30,000 birds in 14 villages are expected to be killed in the next two to three days."
