Article from The Gazette :
" A deadly outbreak of a bacterial infection on Cape Breton Island has been linked to a fifth death, according to the local health authority.
Clostridium difficile — a so-called superbug also referred to as C. difficile —has been identified as a contributing factor in the death of a palliative patient, the Cape Breton District Health Authority said.
In addition to the deaths, at least 26 in-patients have been diagnosed with the antibiotic-resistant strain of bacteria after six new cases were recently discovered, health officials said. The 26 cases are spread among five medical facilities in the region.
Health authority spokesman Greg Boone said the bacteria has been an issue in the region since February."
