" Health authorities recorded 34 new cases of Influenza A (H1N1) over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of people to have been infected with the deadly flu to 14,067 since the pandemic broke last year.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said a total of 671 patients were currently being treated in hospitals for Influenza-like illness (ILI) of which 12 were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
“I would like to remind the public that it is their social responsibility not to frequent public places if they are down with ILI. Those who are ill must remain indoors and away from crowd to prevent more people from falling ill.
“The Health Ministry is urging the public to be conscientious and take necessary precaution if they really need to get out of the house,” he said Monday.
Dr Ismail reminded those who were down with ILI to ensure they wear face masks when stepping out of the house, adding the public should also practice good hygiene to prevent themselves from getting sick.
He also said that two ILI cluster cases were reported in Selangor and Terengganu, adding two members of a family in Section BS 8 in Bukit Sentosa, Selangor and eight students from Kolej Islam Teknologi in Terengganu were down with ILI."
