Malaysia : Current Situation of Influenza A (H1N1) as of May 6, 2010

The latest H1N1 update from the Ministry of Health. The number of ILI cases has increased dramatically as you can see below as well as the ICU admissions. To my honest opinion, I think we are indeed in the "second wave". I maybe wrong....

" Until 8:00 am on May 6, 2010, the Ministry has received 13 reports of ILI cluster incidents from the following seven (7) states as listed in Appendix 1.

Meanwhile, until at 5:30 pm on May 5, 2010, a total of 57 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) were reported for a cumulative number of 13,889 cases to date. The remaining number of ILI cases that are currently being treated in the wards in the country are 632. Of these, 76 cases (12.0%) were confirmed positive influenza A (H1N1).

The number of patients being treated in the ICU is nine (9) cases in which six (6) of them has risk factors. The ministry received no reports of fatalities, bringing the cumulative number of H1N1 deaths to this day remaining at 82.

Ministry of Health would like to remind people that the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) continues to be active in the community. Those who are experiencing ILI symptoms should quickly find treatment at the nearest medical examiner or clinics.

Early treatment is the key to avoid complications and fatality. Those who are sick should stay home, do not go to in the public and not to go to school or work until fully recovered."
