" ILOILO CITY, June 10 : The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) 6 warned the public against cases of dengue, leptospirosis, and other diseases that usually rise during the rainy season.
The warning was issued in the region after six dengue deaths were already reported from January 1 to May 29 this year.
The dengue deaths were from Aklan and Capiz with one each, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental, two each.
Reported dengue cases were at 1,653.
DOH-CHD 6 Regional Director Ariel Valencia said that it is important for the public to already start cleaning their surroundings while there is still no heavy rain.
“Cases of dengue, leptospirosis, influenza and water-borne diseases such as diarrhea usually increase during rainy season so it really entails effort to prevent them,” the health official said."
