India : Hospital slow to respond, alleges dengue victim's mother

From Times of India, excerpt :

" BANGALORE: Sidhant Scindia's death on Sunday has left his family devastated but also wondering whether timely treatment could have saved him. A Class 9 student of Bethany High, 14-year-old Sidhant was admitted to Sagar Hospitals after he complained of fever and weakness on July 28.

For his mother Alka Scindia, it was a very difficult time at the hospital. "Sidhant came to the hospital on July 29 night to visit his brother. As the hospital had an out-patient department, we had to take a blood test for precautionary measures. A doctor told us the various components for which we should have his blood checked, one of which was platelet count and another was Total Blood Count.

His platelet count was 1,24,000 and his Total Blood Count was low according to the doctor and he asked us to admit him for observation," she said."
