An article from Cebu Daily News, excerpt :
" Dengue cases in Cebu City rose by 756 cases from January to July this year, up from 593 cases for the same period last year, local health authorities said last week.
The Cebu City Health Department said nine children aged three to six years old died from the disease this year.
They said they expect more cases in the months to come owing to the rainy season.
Assistant City Epidemiologist Durinda Macasucol said August and September would usually register the highest number of dengue cases.
Barangay Guadalupe has the highest number of recorded dengue cases for the year.
Parents were advised to clean their surroundings and remove stagnant water which could become breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
Macasucol also advised the parents to bring their children immediately to the doctors if they experience high fever for two days already.
Dengue symptoms include, high fever lasting two to seven days, joint and muscle pain, skin rashes, nose bleeding, abdominal pain, vomiting and dark-colored stools."
