Via Sify News, dengue keeps escalating in Delhi :

" New Delhi: The national capital reported 73 more cases of dengue on Thursday, taking the number of people infected with the mosquito-borne disease to 2,085 so far, an official said.

The vector-borne disease has this year claimed five lives in the city, including one from outside Delhi, an official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said.

The rising number of dengue cases, around 70 a day, has set alarm bells ringing for the civic body which is fearing the number of cases this year may cross 3,366 cases registered in 2006.

Many MCD hospitals are also complaining of shortage in platelet supply.

The infections crossed the 2,000 mark Wednesday when Delhi reported 79 new cases."
