India : Filth brings chikungunya to Aundh hospital

Via Times of India :

" PUNE: A hospital should hardly be the place for mosquitoes to breed and be the cause for an outbreak of chikungunya.

Yet, one look at the state government-run, 85-acre Aundh hospital campus in Sangvi which also houses the civil hospital and chest hospital for treatment of tuberculosis, says it all. The civil hospital is also one of the designated hospitals in the city to treat H1N1 cases.

Uncleared garbage bins, puddles where mosquitoes breed and overgrown grass in the residential areas have led to chikungunya among many employees."
