" CHENNAI: Hospitals in the city have reported a sudden jump in dengue cases following the rains. Fifteen children with symptoms of dengue were admitted in the Institute of Child Health in the last 10 days, said Dr P Ramachandran, director of the institute. While most of the cases were from across the city, one case was from Mangadu.
Pointing to the breeding of mosquitoes in every nook and corner of the city, Ramachandran said public should take all preventive measures to fend off the disease. He also asked doctors to watch out for dengue-related symptoms in patients.
As per the figures available with the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, 21 dengue cases were reported from Tamil Nadu in the last one week. Of this, 10 were from Chennai. Also from January to September this year, 986 dengue cases were reported in Tamil Nadu."
