" Brazil recorded 999,688 cases of dengue last year - more than triple of cases in 2009.Deaths totalled 572, more than double in 2009, according to figures released yesterday.
Preliminary statistics on the disease last year show that the southeast was the worst hit, with 473,994 cases, compared with 106,942 in 2009, followed by the south, where cases increased from 1,653 to 42,707 during the two-year period.
The statistical report of the Ministry of Health indicates that 572 people died of dengue last year compared with 226 in 2009."
