" The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (April 13) that it has suspended processing applications for imports of poultry, game birds and their products from the Republic of South Africa with immediate effect until further notice.
"The decision was made following confirmation of outbreaks of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N2 in ostrich farms in the Western Cape province of South Africa," a CFS spokesman said.
"We are seeking further information from the relevant authority of South Africa. We are closely monitoring the situation," the spokesman added."
