" The death toll in Mali’s cholera outbreak climbed to 29 people, with 552 total cases reported, said Diallo Madeleine Ba, the country’s minister of health.
The toll accounts for the period from the start of the outbreak in early July to Aug. 6, she said in a statement read on state-owned Radio Mali today. The illnesses were reported in the northeast cities of Timbuktu and Mopti, she said.
Drugs and disinfectants have been made available to the regions to combat the disease, she said. Cholera, a bacterial infection, is spread through contaminated water and food."
