" Health authorities have expressed alarm over the resurgence of the diarrhea outbreak in the capital town of Albay a month after a similar incidence took place in another village.
Assistant Provincial Health Officer Nathaniel Rempillo said Wednesday morning that he received an order from Albay Governor Joey Salceda to send a health assessment team to Barangay Lacag in Daraga, Albay after a diarrhea outbreak already killed two elderly residents and sent 15 others for admission to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH).
Rempillo identified the first victims as Maria Napulis, 84, and the second was sixty-six-year old Reynaldo Amaranto who ate something during the wake of Napulis, resident of Sitio Sulang last Tuesday.
Salceda said 25 cases were also reported in Malinao as well as another 13 cases in Polangui. Both towns were heavily flooded when tropical storm “Juaning” dumped more than 600mm of rainfall from August 25 to 26.
The governor also sent a water purifier and a water lorry to the affected towns after flash floods destroyed the affected towns' water sources."
