" The dengue cases in Ilocos Sur further increased despite the intensified campaign by the provincial government for the eradication and control of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
The increased incidence of dengue was noted even as the whole province of Ilocos Sur was placed under the state of calamity for dengue in a resolution last week of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Records showed that as of August 8, the Ilocos Sur Provincial Health and Technology Office (PHTO) reported that a total of 1,504 dengue patients was already registered with 10 fatalities.
Three towns identified as having the most number of dengue cases are located in the first district of the province, namely: Sto. Domingo, 175; Cabugao, 162; and San Juan, 121.
There was no dengue fatality recorded in San Juan town but Sto. Domingo had one dead and Cabugao had 3."
