" The Awutu-Senya District Director of Health Services, Mrs Patricia Antwi, says malaria continues to be the number one cause of death in the district. She said this at the 2011 Annual Performance Review meeting of the Service at Awutu Beraku.
Mrs Antwi said as part of efforts to reduce malaria, the directorate distributed about 100 thousand treated mosquito nets and established four out of the six targeted CHPS zones. She appealed for financial support to enable the directorate to achieve its targets.
The Director said her unit received support from Grameen Foundation to implement Mobile Technology for Community Health (MoTeCH) for all health facilities and that, more than 4500 pregnant women had so far registered under the programme."
